Ibiza is one of those places where you need to take a variety of clothing items. It is not just a beach holiday, but also a party destination, so it is important to ensure that you take clothes for all occasions.
There are also a few items which I consider to be key to take when travelling to Ibiza – trust me, I learnt it the hard way!
Below I have compiled a packing list to ensure that you do not make the same mistakes I did when travelling to Ibiza.

Clothes
Shorts and T-shirts
Just like on any other summer holiday, you will want to bring some light clothing such as shorts, t-shirts and dresses. You can use these to wear at the beach and when you are walking around in the town in the evening.
Beachwear
If in doubt, bring more beachwear! You will be visiting many beaches and not all of them have the comfort of sun beds. This means that you are likely to get sand everywhere – including all of your beachwear. So the more beachwear you bring, the less of an issue it will be.
You can get beachwear that shows off your bikini or covers it. There are also lots of opportunities to buy some bikini covers and dresses in Ibiza Old Town. You can check out a list of some of my favourite shops here to get inspiration for Ibiza outfit ideas.
If not, click on the below images to get some ideas of the types of coverups you could be wearing!
Swimsuits
I don’t know about you, but when I go on a week long beach holiday, I bring 3-4 swimsuits. In this case I have enough variation and also a choice. I can take different pictures in each one, but also there is never the problem of a swimsuit being too wet from the day before.
Shoes
Waterproof shoes
If there is only one thing that I recommend for you to bring on this holiday, it will be waterproof shoes. This is the item which I forgot to bring and regretted it immediately.
Because the calas (the coves) have very sharp rocks, it is hard to get anywhere without these waterproof shoes. I regretted this the most when I visited a beach called Cala Benirras, where the Instagram swing is located. However, I didn’t realise that to get to the swing, you had had to be wearing waterproof shoes as it is impossible to cross these sharp rocks in just your flip flops.
There are lots of different types of water shoes available on Amazon for quite a cheap price. The ones below here are my personal favourites because they look stylish and have a hard sole for walking too.
If you would like more basic ones, these below are nice also and cost only £7:
Sandals
Comfortable sandals or walking shoes are a must as well for this holiday. You will be walking around in the evenings and sandals are perfectly versatile as they can also act as going out shoes for the evening.
Accessories
Sun hat
You may want a sun hat to protect you from the sun, but perhaps also to use as an accessory in pictures. It is a necessary item to pack for a week holiday in Ibiza!
I purchased the hat pictured above in one of Ibiza’s Old Town stores. They have a huge selection there of stylish and pretty hats perfect for Instagram.
However, there is also an issue of packing them as they tend to lose their form when they are squeezed into the suitcase. Luckily, there are some hats you can buy that will regain their shape once steamed, such as this one I found on Amazon:
Sunglasses
The sun rays can be quite powerful during the summer time in Ibiza. This is why bringing a pair of sunglasses is more than necessary. My favourite sunglasses brand is Jimmy Fairley. They are a French sunglass brand and make very fashionable and good quality sunglasses for a reasonable price.
Beach bag
This was another item I regretted not bringing. If you are renting a car and visiting new beaches every day, it is important to have a beach bag where you put all of your beach items. This needs to be a simple bag which you don’t mind getting sandy. Believe me, it will be covered in sand by the end of your holiday!
I would recommend getting a canvas bag such as the one below – they are easy to fold and do not take too much space in your suitcase.
If you do not have one, you can order one on Amazon or also buy it in Ibiza – there are lots of stores in the Old Town which sell very fashionable beach bags.
Other
Snorkelling gear
If you plan on visiting beaches, then you will need snorkelling gear to explore the marine life in the sea. Particularly if you are planning a trip to Formentera, this is where you will find the clearest waters and the richest marine life. Below are some suggestions of affordable snorkeling gear you can purchase.
Sunblock
Sunblock is of course also a necessary item to pack for a week in Ibiza. The Nivea sun block is usually my favourite one as it is not too thick and absorbs into the skin quite easily.
Towels
Most hotels offer towels that you can take with you to the beach, but many don’t. Check with your hotel if they are giving towels and if unsure, bring one. A towel is key for beach going as you want to avoid lying on the sand.
Tip: you can also replace a towel with a pareo. These tend to be a lot lighter than a towel and will take us much less space in your suitcase. They are also versatile – you can use it as a beach coverup or use it to lie down on!
Have you travelled to Ibiza? What did you take with you? Let me know if there are any essentials that you would add to this list!
If in doubt, bring more beachwear. Love that advice! I have packing anxiety so love this packing list.
Thank you so much! And thank you for reading!
This looks like a great packing list for hitting the beach. I love to bring a sarong as it doubles from amny things. I’ve never hear the term pareo but it looks like the thing I bring.
Yes a pareo is the same thing as a sarong! It is definitely one of the most useful things.
This is a great comprehensive list! I planned to go to Ibiza this year but hopefully I’ll get to go next year!
Thank you! I hope you will get to go next year! It is really amazing!

Same here! But when I forgot to bring waterproof shoes to Ibiza, I really thought I had to make this guide haha!
First off, I love that sunhat!!! I great up in Miami, so I know how little one really needs for a beach vacay, like Ibiza. Your list is spot on… great tips for beach packing.
Thank you so much Shelley! Very jealous of your upbringing in sunny Miami!
This is such a detailed packing list. I adore the hat and white swimsuit combo and I just want to go away now!

Waterproof shoes or swimming shoes make everything better when there are sharp rocks or barnacles! This is really useful – It sounds like you have everything you need for a perfect beach holiday.
Exactly! Thank you so much for reading Josy!
